Mobility Training

Exercise is a part of healthy living for everybody. However, for people living with Parkinson’s, exercise should not be optional but essential. People with mobility issues will also gain benefits with regular exercise

Research data shows that exercise is beneficial for everybody and people living with Parkinson’s or other mobility issues gain significant results from regular exercise. It is second only to medication in terms of effectiveness in slowing the progression of Parkinson’s.

Some of the benefits are improvement of gait, balance, tremor, flexibility, strength, and coordination.

Regular exercise has been shown to reduce muscle stiffness, decrease depression and anxiety, enhance memory, reduce fatigue and many other benefits. The exercise program at Active Fitness is also a very social experience during the program and afterwards at the café with a cuppa and a chat.

The program is held on each Tuesday and Thursday starting at 12.30pm for one hour inside Active Fitness. It is aimed at giving the participants strength in their legs, arms, and core whilst having fun. Some of the exercises are helpful in overcoming falls and what to do if you have one.

It builds muscle memory which is so important to help you live a safe life. People living with Parkinson’s, their carers and people with mobility issues are welcome. Come along, have some fun and get fitter.
